Comfort and ease during asana practice comes first but remember something that feels difficult is very different from something that doesn't feel right for you. If you feel that a pose puts unnecessary pressure on a body part or if it hurts then modify accordingly. Lena says work on your body awareness and don’t follow instructions blindly.

What is true for yoga is true for everything else in life.

However, as Lena said, just because something seems difficult or hard in the beginning it doesn’t meant it is not right. You do have to work to learn things and get better. Right doesn’t mean easy. Not right means if something doesn’t work in the long run – if it doesn’t makes you feel healthier, stronger, happier, more flexible, more organized, more focused, more positive or more success oriented.

Follow the guidelines of others who have already succeeded but don’t follow their route blindly.

You read, search, study, listen and find interesting things that seem to be useful, worth considering, or worth trying. Sometimes you are told how you should do something as an absolute statement. But every brain and body is different, which means the way we react, form habits and experience things is also different. If you like an idea try it, if something doesn’t work for you, leave it or adjust it.
