Quote Of The Week - Week 2
“Stress, time and other lifestyle factors make genuine barriers to healthy living, and when those barriers are removed people become self-motivated to do things that promote overall well-being”.
Tom Bainbridge, BTN Academy head tutor, on the obstacles of healthy living
I know this is not an inspirational quote but more of a thought. My former nutrition academy’s newsletter inspired me to write an article about how our behavior changed during the pandemic (click here to read the article). Back in June, I predicted that life would get back to normal soon and I asked how the slower and healthier lifestyle that many have managed to adopt during quarantine could be integrated into the new conditions when this is all over. Two months on and the pandemic is far from over but life is still getting back to “normal” - people are busy with their everyday things again and have less time for self-care. Why is that? Why do we always find something more important to do than look after ourselves?
Without health nothing works. Poor health massively affects our quality of life and it also affects the people around us, our loved ones and society at large. So why is self-care not a priority? A question to ponder that might be just as inspirational as a quote… what do you think?
