Interview Of The Week with Anett Racz: Pilates times
Anett is a Pilates instructor in London with 5 star reviews and with a Pilates Legend title that Go Mammoth (the UK’s largest social sport & fitness club) costumers voted for her. Now, she is here with us to launch BWG. She will talk about Pilates history and its principles, and she’ll share her easy home exercises that strengthen the body, give better posture and help to manage lower back pain.
But first things first, let’s get know Anett:
Where are you from and what do you do?
I’m from Hungary but I moved to London (UK) 20 years ago. I’m a Londoner now. I am a mat Pilates instructor and am currently working on my reformer Pilates diploma.
Why did you fall in love with Pilates?
I started to learn Pilates 10 years ago. I just love how this special form of exercise makes me feel. After each session I feel invincible. It clears my mind and for me, it’s the only exercise method that gives me the strong and healthy body that I’ve always wanted.
What made you decide to become an instructor?
My first Pilates teacher was a former dancer in her late 60s. She had amazing strength, flexibility and elegance. She 100% inspired me. I wanted to be just like her. I kept taking her classes for a long
time. It took years to internalise and understand the exercises. I found it fascinating what Pilates did to my body and it changed my mind for the better. Every day it became more and more obvious that this is my path in life and studying to be an instructor seemed like the natural next step.
Who would you recommend Pilates to?
Pilates is really for everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability. The method is built to condition your body through breathing, concentration, control and alignment. Both mat and reformer Pilates have beginner levels but if you are new to this form of exercise I would suggest starting with mat Pilates. It will allow you to learn
the basics without using any equipment and it will help you gain confidence faster.
